I was blessed to be asked to second shoot a wedding. I have done a couple weddings as a second shooter before but always welcome the opportunity to shoot and learn and fine tune. I did not do formal images. I was responsible for details and candids, I did capture quite a bit of the ceremony, however.
Elle and Gerrit met in the youth group at our church. Both of their Dad’s are Pastors at our church—yes, that makes them PK’s. Elle helps with Vacation Bible School. Oddly enough there were complaints that she is so beautiful and smart that all the kids like her better than the teacher. She is beautiful and smart. Gerrit leads the worship on Wednesday nights–he is as handsome as she is beautiful. Elle has two sisters and a brother, while Gerrit has two brothers and a sister. The two families fit nicely together–better than you know. You see, Gerrit’s older brother married Elle’s older sister just over a year ago. It’s a total family thing.
The wedding took place about 80 away from home at the Great Willow Inn. It is a beautiful venue with a gazebo and a giant willow tree right next to it. The day was overcast a bright–just perfect for photography. The bride and groom both wore white. The color theme of the celebration was black and white with an accent color of pink. The ceremony and the party following were tailored to the likes of Elle and Gerrit. It began with a buffet dinner and then dancing in the ballroom following. It was an early wedding and an early departure as it was held on Sunday, Father’s day.
These are just a few of the pictures, the majority of my images will be on Danielle Day’s Smugbug page along with her formal images.
I took way more pictures than I probably needed to-but then I am learning to be a wedding photographer–and I don’t want to miss a thing—I don’t want the bride and groom to miss a thing either–they will look at the images one day in the future and rejoice that every detail was captured on their wedding day.
Thanks for stopping by.
