I have missed some time writing on my blog–I got the winter crud and have been feeling less than par. Hard to get an image a day let alone process it and upload it. Then blog about it–but I am on the mend and back to business.
Continuing on with the 365 project as well ad 52 weeks in song. Now we have assignments which challenge us to come up with a certain theme or to practice the principles of good photography–all learning experiences.
7/365–warm snow. I want snow so much I will take it in any form. Just add cold and there you have it –snow.
8/365 I love color pencil art–drawing or painting with them as the color pencil artists call it. If you put a solvent on the pencil lead after it is on the paper you can do amazing things with the color. I don’t like the pencils floating on the white background–I am working on getting just the perfect amount of shadow on my high key images so the objects don’t float. I used the smudge tool to get the lead to drip and the paint brush to get the color beyond the yellow pencil. Just a fun, fun image to make.
9/365 There is in for real–a little snow shower.
10/365 Another high key image with a texture over the top. Again the objects are floating. I am working on adding a plug-in to my photoshop so I can extract the objects and add shadows to them. I will them re-apply the texture. Just have some research to do to get the plug-in to work. Mistakes or failure are great teachers.
11/365- A new bud? or a dead bud? We shall see in a couple of months. Shot against a brown fence. I do love the shadowy branches in the background and the framing.
2/52 weeks in song. “I can still remember how that music used to make me smile.” We are creating images according to the lyrics of a song. The song is American Pie. I enjoy the challenge and am so glad I have a week to think about it and gather the images.
If you are not doing a challenge–you might want to try one–just to push you to take images everyday–it is amazing how much we improve with practice. Have a lot of fun and in the DPS 365 Assignment group on Flickr–would be a great place to start–lots of good input and encouragement and if you flub up and get behind–oh well –you are still welcome to finish your 365 at your own pace. Give it a try–much fun.
Thanks for stopping by.
